Violet to Blue

Violet to Blue is a series of work made while on the Shaping Spaces residency in Leeds in 2021 and was exhibited as part of the exhibition Atopia. During the residency I continued to explore ideas of haptic perception and embodiment and produced a series of experimental works centred around a blue glow—a steady flickering light which is soft and atmospheric.

These works are housed within sensory forms that reference malleable qualities such as fidget toys, and smooth spherical patterns that continue to re-emerge. Experimenting with 3D printing allowed me to play with scale and test how varied sizes affect intimacy. The prints expand on this spherical, dome-shaped pattern, providing a variation of tactile qualities.

Atopia was a group show showcasing the work of María Cepeda, Hannah Dinsdale and a music collective Shaku who had been artists-in-residence at Insert Studios for the month of September, 2021.

This residency was funded by Arts Council England.
